UCLA Baseball Pitcher Performance & Metrics Dashboard
A specialized pitching diagnostic application that calculates advanced sabermetric metrics, quality-of-contact distributions (xwOBAcon, HardHit%), CSW% (Called Strike + Whiff Rate), and count-by-count split performance.
Coaching staff needed a granular, game-by-game diagnostic dashboard to isolate pitcher-specific pitch-type splits and evaluate underlying run-prevention metrics beyond standard box scores.
The team constructed an interactive R Shiny application processing raw TrackMan game tracking data combined with custom called-strike probability models and xwOBAcon lookup curves. The tool generates automated metrics tables, count split breakdowns, movement profiles, and strike-zone heat maps.
Delivered single-game and custom date-range performance reports with pitch-by-pitch evaluations, CSW%, whiff rate, chase rate, and expected strike differential metrics.
